Probably during the times of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein, nobody was actually thinking about the end of the world. All people were concerned about was the fact that the world was going through the period of invention and advancement of technology and that was all that mattered. But with the passage of time, one has started realizing the fact the there are rumors about something called a Doomsday and on that day, this whole world will be coming to an end. As time passed, people got more and more attracted to these rumors and thus the solidarity of these rumors increased. I do not think that there exists a single man who had not given a thought to what would happen if the things got destroyed some day. Here is a list of the top 10 doomsday prophecies that were made but nothing actually happened.
1. The Effect of Jupiter, 1982
All the 9 planets would align themselves in a straight line and the combined gravitational pull of the planets would cause dangerous movements in the tectonic plates of the Earth. This was proposed by two astrophysicists, Stephen Plagemann and John Gribben, but nothing happened on the day of alignment. The idea was a complete failure and it rather destroyed their careers.
2. The Church Universal and Triumphant, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, 1990
According to this, a spiritual head had proposed that in the year 1990 there would be a nuclear war that would eventually lead to the extermination of the living beings on this planet. Although there was some logic behind her statements but the moment she and her husband were caught with federal firearms, she was taken in and prophecy came to an end.
3. 1666 CE
Since the dawn of civilization one has always thought about the extermination of the living beings of the earth just like the dinosaurs were exterminated from the surface of the earth. In the history, many people actually thought that the year 1666 CE would bring down severe wrath on the humans. The conclusion was made because of the number 666 which is considered to be the number to the gates of Hell.
4. 1000 CE and 1033 CE
It has always been considered that in turn of a century something transforms. Thus during the year 1000 CE to 1033 CE i.e. till the 1000 death anniversary of Christ, people had a belief that there would be something just to destroy the world. Something would transform into so very much dangerous.
5. The Battle of Armageddon, 1999
Edgar Cayce was one of the most noted psychic of the world and in one of his prophecies he mentioned that during the year of 1999, the earth will go through such transformations that there would not be any turning back of the consequences. Nothing actually happened and all his predictions failed.
6. Y2K BUG, 2000
This was nothing like a prophecy made by a psychic or some physicist. This was rather the game of zero’s according to which the computers of the 20th century would get confused with the zeroes and lead to a failure of operations which would ultimately lead to the shutdown of all the automated systems leading to unknown actions that could prove extremely risky for the world. Nothing happened as the computers are more intelligent that the humans.
7. The late Great Planet Earth, 1970
According to this rumor, in the subsequent year, the coming of the anti- Christ would lead to various disastrous events and thus leading to the destruction of the earth. He referred to it as the return of Christ also that would lead to a huge battle destroying everything. Nothing happened and nothing were destroyed.
8. The Heaven’s Gate, 1997
This is not actually a prophecy; rather it is a way by which one can save himself from destruction. According to this, a cult group called the Heaven’s Gate performed mass suicide because their leader told them that the world was coming to an end and everything would be recycled. So the best way to get you back to the recycled earth is to leave this earth before the doomsday. Doomsday is yet to arrive and recycling is literally done on this planet earth itself.
9. The end disappointment, 1844
It was considered by a man in England that Christ would arrive on earth in the year 1844 and cleanse everything. He came to his conclusion owing to mathematical calculations that he conducted. But the worst fact is that nothing happened and his claims were washed in disappointment.
10. Jehovah’s Witnesses
This is a group of people who believe that the return of Christ will be happening and he will cleanse everything from the bad thing. According to the proposed dates, 1874, 1914, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941 and 1975, nothing happened. There have not been any more proposed dates yet. But the chances are less as the people have stopped paying attention.
